Online Safety Advice and Guidance For Parents (Please Read)
Hi all,
As we know, the use of technology involving the internet and/or messaging is an everyday part of life. We use it for a range of purposes in order to benefit our everyday lives. With the increased use of technology, especially as children have access to it at a younger age, it is extremely important to monitor the children's use of this technology on a regular basis.
Often, things can be posted online, sent via messaging apps etc that would never be said to or shown to a person in 'real life.' Sometimes children can forget that when a message is sent electronically, either via text, WhatsApp etc that it has the exact same consequences as saying it to someone in person.
I have attached a document from Safer Internet Day 2019 to give parents / carers a range of ways to start asking children questions about their online habits. I would urge parents to use this as a conversation starter with their children.
Can I also ask that parents monitor all apps on children's phones to ensure that conversations etc that are taking place are appropriate.
Please feel free to contact me at any point if any further advice or support is required.
Thanks
Mr Fulton
