Mobile Phone Update

17th Sep 2024
Parents / Carers,

Many of you may have seen wide coverage in the media in recent weeks over the guidance issued to all schools by the Minister for Education, Mr Paul Given, in relation to a clamp down on pupil mobile phones in school.

At present, some parents send their child to school with a mobile phone and it is then left in the office with Mrs Ritchie for the day.

As a result of the information provided to schools by the minister, I can confirm that, from tomorrow, Wednesday 18th September 2024, NO PUPIL MOBILE PHONES will be allowed on the school grounds.

Please DO NOT allow your child to bring their phone to school.

Some parents request that children have access to their phone when walking to and from school.  The information from the minister clearly outlines that children in a primary school setting normally live within the local area and that a large amount of solo travel is unusual.  As a result, NO PUPIL MOBILE PHONES will be allowed on the school grounds from tomorrow, Wednesday 18th September.

You are able to find the full guidance published by the minister on the Department for Education NI website.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr C. Fulton
Principal
