2020 Garden Olympics
I received this email earlier in the week and thought it sounded like a fantastic challenge for all of us, teachers included! June is also 'Mindfulness Month', so it ties in perfectly. Please read through the email and the attached document carefully. We've now been registered as a school, so if your family would like to take part just follow the link in the attached document.
Hello
As lockdown continues and schools remain closed, our team have been working hard to create a fun initiative to help promote a positive mental and physical health in children across Northern Ireland. Partnering with the NSPCC to help promote Childline and spread awareness of the amazing service they offer to children who may need support during these difficult times, we have created The 2020 Garden Olympics - The Home Sports Day. A FREE event for children, The 2020 Garden Olympics – The home sports day starting June 1st is designed to promote positive physical and mental health by challenging children to complete 30 Activities during the month of June. On June 22nd we will hold an online live-streamed sports day event for children to follow. Children can complete in more than one activity a day to help reach the 30 mark and to make the event accessible to children of all ages and abilities, we will not have set activities that children must complete. Children must simply complete any activity that gets them moving (Running, Dancing, Football) or thinking (Piano, Art, singing). To support children we will be posting daily activity videos on our Social Media & YouTube account to inspire children and act as a follow-along guide. Additionally, to help motivate the children we have a range of sporting athletes lined up to give words of encouragement during the event and have a wide range of rewards to be won once they complete the challenge.
The event is completely FREE for schools and children, and the rewards include: 2 Schools with twenty of more pupils participating will be entered to win either 20 Fully customised sports jerseys (MFC) or a full school Colour Run (The Ultimate Colour Run)50 + Classes with five or more pupils participating will be entered to win receive a whole class reward.500 Children that complete the challenge will receive a custom made 2020 Garden Olympics – The Home sports Day medal. (Additional Medals can be purchased for £3.50, guaranteeing a reward at the end of the challenge but again there is no pressure to purchase these, it's entirely up to you. All profits raised will go directly to Childline) This event is FREE for everyone and is designed to help motivate children to continue to look after their physical and mental health.
We look forward to seeing children from your school compete in the 2020 Garden Olympics – The Home sports Days and even welcome School Staff to join in too 😊
Many Thanks,
David Armstrong
